ALL SAINT DAY REMINDS US THAT WE ARE CALLED TO HOLINESS.

That's how Pope Francis sums up his thoughts on this Feast Day. He reminds us that Saints are not distant, unreachable human beings. Rather, "they walk the same difficult path of life along which we travel, with all its successes and failures." Holiness cannot be achieved through our own strength. It is "the fruit of God's grace and our free response to it.", makings it both a gift and a call. "It is a matter of growing ever more in the awareness that we are grafted onto Christ, as the branch is united to the vine, and therefore we can and must live with Him and in Him as children of God." Remembering the Saints "impels us to raise our eyes to heaven: not to forget the realities of earth, but to face them with more courage and hope."

We pray, through the intercession of all the Saints, that all members of Holy Cross and Blessed Sacrament Parishes will be given the grace to face all of our challenges with courage and hope.

At all of our masses this weekend, we will remember members of our parishes who have died from November 2, 2019 - November 2, 2020. We will remember all of the faithful departed on All Souls' Day.

THE COMMEMORATION OF ALL THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED (ALL SOULS' DAY)

Monday, November 2, 2020 7 30am - Blessed Sacrament 8 00 - Holy Cross Parish

Our parishes are called to join with the Universal Church to remember and celebrate the lives of departed family and friends. It is a day to thank God for those we have loved and to honor our relationship with them. We pray for their happy repose, we miss them daily, we honor what they continue to mean to us by telling stories and keeping their memories alive.
