UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON OPEN HOUSE; October 20 and November 3.

The University, a nationally recognized Jesuit university in northeast Pennsylvania will host two Open House events for prospective students and their families. At the Open House participants can learn about the 68 undergraduate majors, meet faculty, students, admissions counselors and financial aid representatives. Tours will be conducted. BUS PILGRIMAGE TO THE NATIONAL SHRINE OF THE DIVINE MERCY

Saturday, October 5; bus leaves at 7:00 AM from the Oblates of St. Joseph, 1880 Highway 315, Pittston. Estimated arrival at the shrine is 11:00 AM. ST. PAUL OF THE CROSS PARISH RUMMAGE & BAKE SALE

Sale will be held Friday September 13th and Saturday September 14th in the Parish Center which is located at 1215 Prospect Ave in Scranton. Each day, the sale will run from 9am – 2pm.

SAINT CYRIL AND METHODIUS ANNUAL RUMMAGE SALE FUNDRAISER

The fundraiser is set for September 20-22 from 9am – 6pm in the Church’s school gym (133 River Street, Olyphant). Furniture, household goods, tools, books for adults and children, games, holiday décor, gardening supplies, jewelry, handbags, and luggage are just some of the items you will find at the rummage sale. Raffle baskets, Ukrainian and American homemade food, and refreshments will also be available.

THE CATHOLIC CHORAL SOCIETY will begin its 71st year

on Tuesday, September 3 with rehearsals on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 to 8:30 PM at the IHM Center at Marywood University.

New members are welcome and no auditions, excepting for voice placement, are required.

The first concert will be on Sunday, November 10 at 7:00 PM when the chorus will host regional choral groups from elementary school through college at Holy Rosary Church in Scranton. GRIEF SUPPORT MINISTRY

The Cathedral of Saint Peter Parish will once again hold a Grief Support group program for people in our community who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Our ministry is not confined to Parish members only and is available to anyone in the community who feels the need to participate in a Grief Ministry Program that offers spiritual as well as emotional support during the weeks, months or years following the death of a close family member or friend. The next support group will meet weekly for 4 weeks starting Wednesday, September 25 and ending on Wednesday, October 16, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the Diocesan Pastoral Center, 330 Wyoming Avenue. SCRANTON DIOCESAN COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN RETREAT/DAY OF REFLECTION

Wednesday August 7th at The Villa of Our Lady Retreat House, 245 Meadowside Road, Mount Pocono from 8:30am – 3pm. Monsignor Vincent Grimalia, Coordinator for Ecumenism and Interfaith Relations, will conduct the retreat. The theme of the day-long event is “Works of Mercy”, and will include mass, confession, private time, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. SS. ANTHONY & ROCCO PARISH ITALIAN FESTIVAL

Friday and Saturday, August 9th and 10th at 5pm. Sunday, August 11th following mass and procession at noon. The festival will be held at St. Rocco’s Church Grounds, 122 Kurtz St. in Dunmore. There will be food, games, and live entertainment. Dunmore Marching Band and Cheerleaders plus Picture Perfect perform on Friday. Marywood University Aphasia Group

Marywood University Aphasia Group is a free community service support group that is made up of people living with stroke at any stage of their recovery, in addition to family members and caregivers. Our aphasia group encourages individuals affected by stroke to come together in a warm and accepting environment.
